The Network of NSERC Chairs for Women in Science and Engineering is pleased to announce a new opportunity for faculty or postdoctoral women researchers to participate in a series of workshops centered around building creative collaborations. This series of workshops will be held every two weeks on 90 to 120-minute Zoom sessions during Fall 2021.
The goal of these sessions is to facilitate connections and collaborations between women researchers from across Canada and from all career levels in STEM in order to advance their work. More specifically, we will be:
Building connections and providing networking opportunities
Providing useful tools and resources such as conflict resolution, collaboration, creativity, financing, leadership and suit training.
Facilitating research and academic collaborations
The sessions are as follows:
Session 1: September 23rd, @2pm ET: Fireside Chat with Dr. Donna Strickland Fireside Chat with 2018 Nobel prize winner in physics, Dr. Donna Strickland, Professor, University of Waterloo, followed by a team building and icebreaker exercise.
Session 2: October 7th @2:00 pm ET: Creative Collaborations This session will focus on how to be creative within interdisciplinary collaborative teams.
Session 3: October 21st @2pm ET: How does improv work with Second City During this session, the participants will practice their creative collaboration skills through special activities designed by the Second City Improv Theatre Group.
Sessions 4: November 4th @2pm ET: Leadership and Conflict Resolution Training During this session, the teams will receive conflict resolution training using ITP conflict resolution training.
Sessions 5: November 18th @2pm ET: Financing and Entrepreneurship Panel This session will focus on financing research projects and start-up companies. We will have a panel of women entrepreneurs, successful researchers and NSERC leaders to discuss possible paths to advance our innovations and acquire funding.
Sessions 6: December 2nd @2pm ET: Death by Chocolate In this session, we will celebrate our new collaborations. The teams will showcase the work they have done and get feedback. While enjoying chocolate treats
